Applying Tags to Data Sets

You can create tags to identify sets of individuals for specific marketing purposes, e.g. tagging new consumers to ensure they receive a welcome communication. If you add a tag to a campaign, the action associated with that Tag will be performed when the campaign is run, e.g. the Demo_Tag will be appended to the audience passed through that step. This creates a group under that tag that can be used as an audience in its own right for future Campaigns.

Creating a Tag

  1. Open the Create window and select the Tag function (located within the Analysis category).

  2. Provide a Name and Description (optional) for the tag.

  3. Select the Table Level and Location for the Tag and click Save.

  4. Navigate to the Location defined during Tag creation.

  5. Expand the Tag to view details.

In this example, since Demo_Tag has yet to be used, there are no records associated with the Tag.

Note: tags are not the same as saved selections.

    • A saved selection is the rule(s) used to identify a group records, i.e. if your data changes, so will the records.

    • A tag is a snapshot of records at a certain time, i.e. a group of records with a certain tag will remain in that group even if the source data changes.

Adding a Tag to a Campaign

  1. Open or create a Campaign.

  2. Locate the Tag icon in the functions menu.

  3. Drag and drop the Tag step into the Campaign.

  4. Select the Tag step to open the Tag Properties.

  5. Select one of the available tags and choose whether to Append, Overwrite or Delete.

  6. Click Add to associate the selected Tag with the Campaign step.
